2014 Artist Spotlight – Jacob Ertl

Jacob Ertl

Jacob Ertl first joined the Dakota Sky International Piano Festival in 2013 to help lead the Children’s Concerts, and kindly filled in at last minute to perform with Kayleen Sánchez when the original pianist suffered an injury. This year, we are happy to invite Mr. Ertl back for a full Recital on Saturday, June 14, as well as to lead the Children’s Concerts. A native of Appleton, Wisconsin, Jacob has performed across the United States as well as abroad in Europe, Israel, Canada, and Mexico. If you attended Jacob’s Seminar in 2013 on the music of Rzewski, you’ll be happy to note that he is playing the full Winnsboro Cotton Mill Blues, of which he performed excerpts during his talk. This year, Jacob will also present a Seminar titled Music Outreach: Training the Next Generation on Monday, June 16 from 12-1pm, as well as joining for the chamber music Salon Recital on Monday, June 23.

Ertl is currently Assistant Professor of Piano at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
