You mean you don’t need words to tell a story!? That’s right, come listen and learn how music can tell a story through sound! Starting with video game music, we will eventually discover how Stravinsky brings the story of “The Firebird” to life through music. You may even have to come up with your own musical stories too!

What make’s a tune so catchy, even more than a hundred years later? Through listening games and activities, experience the most famous piano tunes in a new way! Ever wonder why Beethoven’s “Moonlight” and “Fur Elise”, or Debussy’s Claire de Lune became so popular, what they are about, and how these composers wrote this music so effectively? Learn about these pieces and many more in this exciting exploration of piano favorites.

Discover both the exciting athletic acrobatics and the soulful singing styles of piano playing. How does a pianists’ hands move so fast it turns into a blazing fast blur!? How can we make the piano sing a melody? In this program, we will learn what these styles of playing are all about through beautiful and thrilling examples, featuring one of the most difficult pieces ever written for piano!

Ready for an exciting surprise? The theme of this concert will be announced when you arrive! This student-to-student concert features the Dakota Sky International Piano Festival Young Artist Program participants in an exciting program based on the pieces they are currently performing. Young Artists will develop a theme and present an interactive and engaging educational concert.
