Nice post from Janet Brown, former Dakota Sky Board Member, head of SoDA, Chair of Fine Arts at Augustana College, et al, on the role of State Arts Agencies.  As lovers of the arts, we all must also be advocates for their importance in our culture.

2011 Season Artists Announced!

The full roster of guest artists for the 2011 Season of the Dakota Sky International Piano Festival has been finalized, and we are excited for what will be another fantastic season!

Founder and Artistic Director Paul Sanchez will start off our season.  Joining him in the Recital Series this year will be returning friends of the Festival and of Sioux Falls, Adam Golka, Petronel Malan, and Alessio Bax.  New to our recital series is Dr. Douglas Humpherys, of Eastman School of Music.  The Spotlight Series will feature the return of pianist Jeffrey LaDeur, this time as a member of the Delphi Trio, as well as the return of 2010 favorite, magician and pianist Igor Lipinski.

See our 2011 Artist Information page for more information about each of the artists.

This year, we are also planning to expand our Education program to include a Young Artist Program, which will consist of a two-week long intensive residency for seven students, who will study with our guest artists and other special guests.  This will expand upon our existing successful Children’s Concerts and Lecture Series.  Please check back after the New Year for more details about these, and other, upcoming programs.

It may be snowing today, but we are already excited for some summertime music!

And Tigger Too

See one young man’s day at the Children’s Concerts from this last season.  I remember it looking like he was having a lot of fun roaming the halls of the Pavilion!
